
Gunfire erupted on the streets of midtown Manhattan this morning as a man opened fire outside the Empire State Building.
58-year-old Jeffrey Johnson shot a former colleague on the sidewalk before engaging in a shootout with police officers that resulted in his death and injuries to 9 other bystanders, some of whom may have been accidentally shot by police officers returning fire.
The victim is 41-year-old Steven Ercolino, according to the State University of New York, where he was a 1992 graduate. New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is OutFront tonight with more details.
