    Besides sympathizing with those friends & colleagues who may be directly effected by this war, how can most people be of help in averting war?

    As to mitigating the consequences of war, I know Arwa Damon mentioned that the Global Medical Relief Fund would be providing medical care to children who have been wounded or severely burned as a result of being in a war zone, so that sounds pretty reliable. But besides that, recall that even T.E. Lawrence couldn't resolve all the infighting within the Middle East. Not to say to the eternal optimists that it can't be done, Camp David Summit came close.
