Early reports say some Americans have been freed but others are still unaccounted for in Algeria. The Algerian government says it has ended its rescue operation after freeing nearly 600 workers held hostage by Islamist militants at a BP gas plant.
The Algerian Press Service reports numerous casualties, but is exact number is unknown.
The United States government said that an unarmed predator drone flew over the BP plant to gather intelligence, but little other concrete information has been released.
How involved was the U.S. in this operation?
Outfront tonight: Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff, a member of the House Intelligence Committee.
