State Dept.: John Kerry "prepared to go tomorrow" to Mideast if needed

Cease-fire shattered.

Hopes for quiet and calm in the Middle East, dashed as the rocket barrage between Israel and Gaza resumes. Israel stopped its attacks for 6 hours.

But Hamas never accepted the terms of the cease-fire and never stopped firing. Israel says it's been hit by 141 rockets total since 9am ET Tuesday - that's the equivalent of one rocket every 6 minutes.

'Failure is not an option': But Israel, Hamas can't agree on cease-fire

Israel has now confirmed its first fatality in this conflict. But in Gaza, the death toll is much higher, nearly 200 people killed.

Many civilians among the dead.

OutFront, State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki.
