Paul Ryan's explanation of his negative vote on Simpson-Bowles was simply "my way or the highway." It would have been so simple to pass Simpson-Bowles first and then propose his "fix-the-problem" amendment separately.

Erin, you went right to the heart of the problem with your statement that picking the right plan is an exasperating exercise, and Paul Ryan simply brushed aside this problem. The premiums we pay for Medicare should be scaled according to income (as they are today) but to a much greater degree than at present.

This is why you can't trust politicians; here's the guy that voted against Simpson-Boyles, with a "plan of his own". His plan is Simpsopn-Bowles with the Republican plan to kill the presidents heathcare plan, and Social;-Security.
