Bryant, Martin debate the Trayvon Martin case

The complete facts of the shooting death of Trayvon Martin have yet to be known, but already the incident has become a national call to action. The Rev. C. L. Bryant has objected to some of the national figures arriving in Florida, and on OutFront, he debated CNN contributor Roland Martin.

Erin, I love your show and watch most of the time. But I don't like some part when one start making fun of others' cultural practices, Like few minutes ago you were talking about smell of some water you bought. It may have its own importance for that culture. Hope you understand.

I do consider all the concepts you have presented to your post. They're really convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are very brief for starters. Could you please extend them a bit from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.

George Zimmerman is the son of retired Virginia Supreme Court Magistrate, Judge Robert Zimmerman.

George has a history of legal and behavior problems. The father lives in Lake Mary, an easy drive from Sanford. Certainly, the now-on-leave police chief and the state's attorney know the father, and their replacements could also know him. Police chief and state's attorney overruled the lead investigator and attempted to dismiss this murder as "self defense" on the night it occurred, without investigating.

From the time the story broke in the news, I kept thinking Zimmerman is "connected" to someone. Nothing about what happened the night of Trayvon's murder made sense until I discovered who his father is.

Why is no one talking about this? It's obviously the key to misconduct by the police and the state's attorney.

Very interesting, this is info that I have not heard before. I hope there are pictures and or eyewitness testimony to prove the alleged injuries from Trayvon's alleged attack because in light of the police station video and these high level connections it would be impossible for me to believe Zimmerman's story.

I just saw Zimmerman on cnn's Erin Burnett out front and in the video didn't see any blood from a.bad head laceration or broken nose . This video needs to be examined carefully.

It looks to me like somebody got called out on their jealousy of Shartpton and Jackson. I may have my differences with them but he's doing the same thing here. Then he tries to turn it on Martin and talk about comparing ideologies when that was never the question.

Great debate-like the way "Bryant bobbed and weaved.' He accuses Sharpton & Jackson for the very thing that he hasn't done. Did Bryant reach out or visit the family of the little girl in Chicago? Has he even contacted Trayvon's family and offer condolences or is he just carrying Rush & Glenn Beck's water in return for a pat on the head?

Still wainting for Roland Martin to answer your question about black on black crime. He quickly change the subject.

Where is my comment from last night. I commented that Roland the gay hater practically called Mr. Bryant an uncle tom because he Mr. Bryant was calling out the race hucksters Sharpton and Jackson who have made millions off the backs of African Americans.

We stopped watching OUTFRONT last night when Erin started reporting about Travyon's school suspensions for using pot. This tragic incident is about his death and the shooting not about his past. It is outrageous the way the Right is trying to demonize this poor boy to take the attention away from Zimmerman shooting an unarmed boy. We will not watch OUTFRONT again!!! Ever!!!

Why continue to give a guy like Roland Martin anymore airtime on your show. After watching him attack Rev Bryant on your show I couldn't listen to him talk on any issue again because he displayed a level of ignorance and disrespect that shouldn't be given the spotlight. Certainly in light of the facts that are now coming out Rolly belongs on msnbc on the Sharpton show, where there is no regard for facts or reality just a warped baseless opinion. This country doesn't need this right now and if a "white" man had actually gone out and hunted down a defenseless black child shot and killed him and wasn't arrested then I could tolerate some of Rolly's emotion but we know its just not the case. As Rev Bryant said the justice system will sort this messy situation out and mete out justice. In the meantime those putting bounties out and attacking anyone who speaks with measure and wisdom, just because they won't go along with inciting needless hatred should be kept off the air. There is a journalistic responsibility to do so.

Erin, how did having these two children on your show advance the discussion of the topic. This is just inflammatory journalism!

Is Martin seriously basing his argument on how many tweets Bryant has made? This guy questions a civil rights hero's integrity and involvement based on how often he uses twitter? Anyone can sit in their pajamas and tweet. It takes a real hero to get in the trenches, which is what Bryant has done. It's amazing to me that Martin ever got such a high-profile job with such a low-watt condescending bulb upstairs.

Erin, I don't feel the protestors are going in the wrong direction regarding the Trayvon Martin murder; Tonight's debate of black on black ideaology is the wrong direction. Black on Black crime is an epidemic that many leaders across the country are addressing. Black Men are serving time for these crimes with record breaking sentences. This is NOT the issue in the Martin case. The issue is George Zimmerman is currently getting away with murder only because he murdered a black child. The issue is No justice has been given to Trayvon Martin's family under state law. The real racism is why do we need to debate black on black crime or white on black crime, when a child is murdered and no one has been arrested for this heinous crime. Reporting on his school suspensions fuels the racist argument. How many white children are caught with marijuana possesion? It doesn't matter, because neither deserve to be shot while unarmed because of it!

What is the significance in reporting that Martin was suspended from school? Is this vindication for his killing. The difference between black on black crime and this case is that at lease police departments investigate and make an attempt to arrest the assailants. Where as in this case the killer was set free with little investigation. Bryant seems like the only information that he gets in Shreveport Louisiana is from the Klan News Agencies.

If there were more talking the truth like cl Bryant, and less liberal fools like Martin, we might mend some of devastation heaped on all of us, but especially on blacks and their culture, by their leaders and other liberal fools like the obnoxious martin

Roland Martin – you should be fired! Simply put, Rev. C. L. Martin called it right... Sharpton and Jackson are RACE OPPORTUNISTS who seem to take center stage whenever an issue arises in the media that may have a race angle. Obviously you are cut from the same cloth. If this case was NOT in the public eye, neither you, Rev. Jackson, nor Rev. Sharpton would be there. How many black children have been killed in the past 12 months in situations similar to the Trayvon Martin case but were not public in nature, yet both Rev. Sharpton and Rev. Jackson were present? You use RACE to incite HATRED, VIOLENCE, and BIGOTRY, then use the poison of what you spread to further your own self interests. You should all be ashamed to call yourself African AMERICANS. You are racist opportunists. I am appalled by what I witnessed on Erin Burnet's show. You are no better than the NEW BLACK PANTHERS. What did Rev. Bryant say tonight that was wrong? He called a spade a spade.... the Trayvon Martin case is sensationalized and takes the focus off what is a true problem. Let's see Rev. Jackson and Rev. Sharpton make public appearances at black-on-black murders. Too bad they won't show up... not front page news. You are a joke. You proved tonight you have no true intellect, and have called into question any view you now present on CNN. I used to enjoy your POV. Now all I see is self-promotion and opportunistic dialogue. What a shame.

Rowland Martin is probably the last one that should be calling anyone out over what they have or have not posted on Twitter. Rev. C.L. Bryant made a reasonable, valid, fact based point, and all Rowland Martin did was try to change the subject with his disrepectful tone, and loud confrontational demeanor.

Wow, love to see Roland the gay hater back on the air practically calling Mr. Bryant an uncle tom because he had the audacity to call out the race hucksters Jackson and Sharpton. Roland shouldn't even be on the air. Can't wait for his next anti gay slur this weekend while he is critiquing the Final Four commercials.

Erin, I don't know where to place this, so I place it here. Have you seen this:
    http://www.locktonrisk.com/nrains/defense.htm
the NRA endorsed Insurance program for self-defense? I see Zimmerman more as a victim of a bunch of sick people creating a sick environment rather than as a completely responsible person who actually knew what he was doing. As long as sick people like those from the NRA preaching self defense are out, nothing is going to improve and Trayvon Martin will be killed again.

It was not a fiery debate – who can take Roland Martin Serious? Really? I thought he got canned for racial or gay slurs or both – now, he wants to talk about this case? No Erin – pick better commentators – the debate about Romney trying to call out Obama was much better. I even liked the funny story about Russia being Hollywood. This debate that you are promoting was the least interesting then on OUT Front tonight.

Great question! Where is the protest and movement on Black on Black violence. I was robbed at gun point of all my jewelry washing my car by two black teens a couple of months ago. These black teens are part of the reason we are having this discussion today. To make matters worse, most of City of Miami Police dept is black and just turn a blind eye to these crimes. They are just cashing in a check. The police and many of the detectives assigned to these robbery cases needs to be reevaluted. You send them an email they don't respond. Leave them a voice mail, they don't return your call. Tax payers dollars are just being wasted.

ENOUGH fighting! Both men have valid points, so there should be no butting heads. Bryant can discuss his beef at a more appropriate time. This whole conversation was a waste of energy. We need to come together!

Black on Black crime is a huge problem, Martin is correct that Bryant have to take things in his hand to make a change. on the other hand I dont want to see Jessie Jackson on this case trying to get Spot light for his personal gain. Sharpton is Real he's always involoved in things local & national.
