Iran has enriched uranium up to 27-percent according to a U-N nuclear watchdog agency. The IAEA says the uranium comes from a sample taken in February at the Fordo plant.
The previous highest level of enrichment had been 20-percent. Weapons grade enrichment is 90-percent.
A nuclear weapons expert told OutFront that it's very unlikely that this finding is part of a secret Iranian effort to produce a weapon.
But the news comes just a day after six nations failed to reach an agreement with Iran to cap its nuclear enrichment.
