Expanded role for Romney adviser: "Staff really don't matter...it's the candidate"

A change at the top of Mitt Romney's campaign team. Influential conservative voices, including the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, and Rupert Murdoch have criticized the campaign this week for everything from staffing to messaging.

It looks like Romney may be taking their words to heart, announcing Friday that senior adviser Kevin Madden will take on a bigger communications role.

Pilot error, faulty equipment to blame for Air France plane crash

In France, investigators presented their final report Thursday on Air France flight 447, which crashed in to the Atlantic Ocean on its way from Brazil to France three years ago.

All 228 people on board were killed. The report blames a series of pilot errors.

GOP calling for Romney campaign team shake-up; John Avlon says not so fast

Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal wrote a scathing editorial criticizing presidential candidate Mitt Romney over his handling of the Supreme Court health care decision. The op-ed slammed his stance on whether the individual mandate is a penalty or tax. The article called for the Romney campaign to have a shake-up in personnel.

In his latest column for the Daily Beast, John Avlon examines why a campaign team shake-up may not be the best strategy for GOP's presidential candidate.
