What do we know about the attacks against a U.S. consulate in Libya, which left 4 Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens?

Sources tell CNN that the attack was planned and a small pro-al Qaeda group who claimed responsibility for a previous assault on the U.S. compound in Benghazi is considered a prime suspect.

Early in the investigation, the Romney campaign criticized the Obama administration for appearing sympathetic to the individuals who started the violence against the consulate. But, since the release of the Romney campaign's statement, the actual timeline of events suggest Romney was wrong in his accusation.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee told CNN's Erin Burnett that the comments should not have been made without knowing the facts.

"It was a pre-emptive strike on what somebody thought might be coming, but wasn't sure," Sen. Feinstein said. "It's exactly what shouldn't be done and that is make a comment before you even know what the situation is."
