Down payment and punt on the fiscal cliff

A bipartisan group of Senators, known as the Gang of Eight, are trying to hammer out a $55 billion debt down payment. The idea's to give Congress an additional six months before those $1.2 trillion spending cuts take effect at the end of the year.

OutFront tonight: Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND). He's a member of the gang of eight and chairman of the Senate budget committee.
