Social issues make big gains on election night
CNN's Erin Burnett discusses the turning tide on social issues among American voters. For the first time in history voters in four states voted to legalize same-sex marriage. In Colorado and Washington state, Americans voted to approve legalizing marijuana.
President Barack Obama eked out a 4% win in Colorado, while also carrying Maryland, Maine, and Washington, who all voted to legalize same-sex marriage.
Does the GOP need to re-evaluate their party platform.

Voters approve same-sex marriage for the first time
In a historic turnaround, the ballot box is showing America's shifting attitudes about same-sex marriage. Gay marriage rights have long been unsuccessful at the polls in the past, but on Tuesday, the measure passed in three states.
Rarely do popular votes reflect such dramatic social changes.
The result: Maryland and Maine will now allow couples like Chyrino Patane and James Trinidad to tie the knot.
The Maryland couple has been together for seven years, and now, after the historic vote, they plan to marry in the next six months to a year.
"Both families will be at the wedding," Patane said.
