Fiscal cliff talks slow down in Washington as both sides dig in

OutFront tonight: Crying and moaning in Washington.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday, House Speaker John Boehner moved the markets and our hearts higher with his joyful talk about a possible deal on the fiscal cliff. But today, it was like a breakup over text message Рout of the blue he went from love to total disgust.

After a meeting with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, he claimed that Democrats are still not serious about spending cuts and that no substantive progress has been made in the last two weeks of talks.

As you might guess, stocks lost early gains on that news. And the day went downhill from there. FULL POST
