Two caregivers at an army day care center in Virginia are under arrest and charged with assaulting children, and at least 30 other workers among two centers have been taken off the job after background checks found criminal records, including sexual assault and drug use.

No clear message or mandate in debate over gun control

Politicians said the Newtown massacre would change everything. But since it happened, Slate Magazine is reporting 277 people in this country have died because of gun violence.
And Americans are sending mixed messages about where they stand on the issue. A recent Gallup poll shows 54 percent still have a positive image of the National Rifle Association.
On the other hand, a poll by ABC News and the Washington Post shows 52 percent of people favor banning semi-automatic handguns, while 59 percent support a ban on high-capacity clips used in assault-style rifles.

In a press conference today, the President put pressure squarely on the Senate to broker a deal on the edge of the fiscal cliff, showing visible frustration with the lack of action in Washington so far.
That followed a rare last-minute, face-to-face meeting that took place behind closed doors today between all the key players of the fiscal cliff drama. With just four days to go before we go over the fiscal cliff, the President, the Vice President, the Treasury Secretary, and all four Congressional leaders huddled together for an hour and five minutes.
