Ex-Sailor charged with attempting to spy for Russia

A former U.S. sailor from Virginia Beach has been charged with attempted espionage.

Federal authorities say 39 year-old Robert Hoffman tried to pass classified information to members of the Russian Federation, but ended up speaking to an undercover FBI agent instead.

Hoffman served in the U.S. Navy for twenty years which raises concerns about his level of security clearance access top-secret information.
