Former Newtown students rally together to help raise thousands for families of Sandy Hook shooting victims

CNN's Erin Burnett catches up with a 21-year-old JR Shine, a former Newtown High School student who returned home to help families of Sandy Hook shooting victims.

Newtown students return to school amid grief

With the exception of students at Sandy Hook Elementary, schools in Newtown, Connecticut opened their doors for the first time today since Friday's shooting massacre.

One family, the Wagners, have two children who returned to school today despite their connections to victims lost in the shooting.

"We shouldn't have to go through this," Newtown resident weighs in on unbearable procession of funerals

Rod Deraney, longtime Newtown resident, father of four, ages 2 to 12. His life in Newtown, intertwined with so many of the victims. Deraney's 12-year-old daughter knew and loved Vicki Soto, a one-time substitute teacher for Deraney's daughter's class.

His 10-year-old son was friends with Jack Pinto's older brother. Deraney and his son attended Jack's funeral on Monday.
