NRA flip-flops on universal background checks

At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on gun violence today, Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association shared his thoughts on universal background checks.

LaPierre says it doesn't do any good to expand background checks to private sales between lobbyists and collectors.

But, he wasn't always against universal background checks.

Newtown victims' families testify before task force on gun violence

Family and friends of the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut are speaking before the final hearing of the Connecticut legislature's bipartisan task force on gun violence and school safety.

It is the first hearing of that task force to be held in Newtown.

Shooter Adam Lanza on December 14th killed his mother, Nancy, in their home, then shot and killed 26 children and adults at the nearby elementary school.

Mastermind behind the Manti Te'o Hoax speaks out: "I wanted to end it" with Te'o

For the first time, the young man who tricked the Notre Dame Football star into falling in love with a made-up woman online is coming clean.
Ronaiah Tuiasosopo tells Dr. Phil his feelings were genuine during the two-year hoax.

And at the end, he struggled to break things off and told Dr. Phil that he felt deeply romantically in love with the Te'o.

Alabama Hostage Standoff: 5-year-old boy held in underground bunker

A tense situation continues in Midland City, Alabama where there is a standoff between cops and man who is holding a 5 year-old boy in an underground bunker on his property.

Neighbors say that man is 65 year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes.

Authorities say the boy was seized from a school bus at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon. The bus driver, 66-year-old Charles Poland Jr., was shot and killed, but school officials said Wednesday he saved 21 other children on board.
