It's International Women's Day today. Erin Burnett had the opportunity to attend an event in Dallas, Texas Friday that honors and promotes international women like few others.
The Bush Institute was founded by former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura in 2009. Its mission is to advance freedom by expanding opportunities for individuals at home and around the world.
One of the most successful programs offered by the Center is the Women's Initiative. This past year, 14 women took part in leadership training in the U.S. where they worked with American mentors, exchanged ideas and learned new ways to advance their work.
Today 14 women celebrated their graduation from the program, shared their ideas and welcomed 19 other women who are about to begin their own Fellowship.
After the ceremony, Burnett had the chance to spend some time with the former First Lady.
Burnett asked her why it's so important for her to support the lives and initiatives of women around the world.
Tune to Erin Burnett OutFront Monday at 7p ET  for the full interview with former First Lady Laura Bush.
It's very comforting to hear from and see somebody I really did like as First lady. I miss her kind of personality there.
