Fatal child shooting ignites guns for kids debate
The tragic shooting death of a 2-year-old girl by her 5-year-old brother with his own gun this week has brought to attention the gun industry's growing focus on young children as the next generation of customers.
For instance the company crickett.com - it's a slogan, "my first rifle." And under the "kid's corner" section you can see young children holding rifles that come in a variety of colors including pink.

This week's shooting was also at least the fourth this past month in which a child fired a gun at a sibling or a parent. And it all raises the question - should guns be marketed towards and in the hands of children.

The only people who will be affected by the legislation are people who go to a gun show to buy a gun, despite not being able to pass a background check. I'm a gun owner, and I want ALL firearms outlets to require Federal and State background checks. Anything less is not protecting the American public, the Homeland, and our borders.

I have no problem doing a background. I've done 4 FBI and State background checks in the last 4 years for work, and it's the same when I walk in a gun store and purchase a gun.
Can Michael Medved defend criminals being able to walk in a gun show and buy a very dangerous military-style assault rifle? No, it's an out-dated and outrageous law that allows criminals to walk in a gun show and buy weapons illegally. How hard is it to require gun shows to screen their clients who have a problems with buying a gun from a gun shop? This law is not protecting law-abiding gun owners like myself. The current law protects and allows criminals to buy guns without background checks. Not mandating background checks at gun shows because it's a "slippery slope" is illogical, paranoid, and makes is much easier for criminals to obtain dangerous weapons. Do we really want to criminals to have weapons, emboldening criminals to commit crimes, and allow criminals to have more fire power than police? No. Full criminal background checks are the least that law-makers can do to protect society.

Anyone who would intentionally give a rifle to a five year old as a gift needs to be mentally evaluated. Children that age should be playing with toys not guns. Why was this gun accessible to this child and why was it not locked up by so called responsible gun owning parents?
This was just tragic to hear about and love and prayers to the family. Please do not ever put an idiot like that woman who blames Obama and Hollywood for a family who decided to but a gun for their 5 year old child .She represents women and that is a complete humiliation for any women.She has no compassion for the human race and she obviously has an IQ that actually is so low it doesn't rate.
