Teen behind alleged bomb plot charged; Mother's attorney says he is mentally ill

Accused bombe,r 17-year-old Grant Acord made his first appearance in court Tuesday.

According to prosecutors, Acord wanted to outfo the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School that left 15 people dead.

Court records detail his plan to use a stash of homemade explosives including napalm, pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails. The target was Acord's high school in Albany, Oregon.
