In an interview with London's Guardian newspaper, actor Michael Douglas was asked if he regretted his years of heavy drinking and smoking - presumably the cause of his throat cancer.
He replied with this surprising revelation:
".. without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, (human papillomavirus), which actually comes about from cunnilingus."
Did oral sex bring about Michael Douglas' cancer diagnosis? Not exactly
Douglas' spokesperson later clarified this statement, saying that oral sex was a possible cause of his disease. Douglas successfully fought cancer and now has a 95% chance of survival.
So why would Michael Douglas even raise the issue?
