Will Senate deal pass?

Deal or no deal?

It appears a deal on the debt ceiling and the government shutdown may finally be in sight.

For Senate leaders, bitter history morphs into working relationship on deal

Here's what we know about the deal both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his Republican counterpart, Mitch McConnell are crafting. It would:

  • Keep the government funded until January 15th 2014
  • Create a December 13th deadline for a budget deal
  • Raise the Debt Ceiling until February 15th

White House meeting with congressional leaders postponed

OutFront: Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota is part of a group of about a dozen moderate, bipartisan senators who laid the groundwork for the deal leaders Reid and McConnell are working on right now.
