Pentagon building real-life "Iron Man" suit

Imagine if superheroes could fight in war, armed with the ability to repel bullets and communicate with orbiting drones to locate the enemy.

If it sounds like something out of a movie, well, it is. It's also an IDEA that could hit the battlefield as early as next year.

Barbara Starr reports from the Pentagon.

Actually, come to think of it Samantha Dean at Mashable broke this story like 3 weeks ago. It's still pretty cool, but...

They're always doing these infographics about the cost of being certain superheroes. The ones on Iron Man & Batman were cool, but the one on Wolverine was kind of disappointing. I mean, when an adamantium skeleton is your primary cost driver, the cost of a leather bomber jacket & a box of cigars aren't exactly material.

Did anyone else notice that the Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit is also an acronym – TALOS? Talos being the mythical Greek bronze man (i.e. robot) which was built by Daedalus or Hephaestus to protect the island of Crete. I wonder if someone at the Department of Defense or DARPA racked their brains to come up with that or was it a happy coincidence.

"I'm your nuclear deterrent. It's working. We're safe. America is secure." (Tony Stark, Iron Man 2)
