Did the U.S. mental health system fail again in the Deeds case?

In 1955 there were more than 550,000 psychiatric beds in the U.S. In 2010, there were fewer than 45,000. The population has nearly doubled since then.

That shows the staggering decline in mental care in America. It's a situation that Dr. Charles Sophy deals with every day as a psychiatrist and the Director of Children's Services for LA County hospitals.
