Three San Jose State students charged with hate crime

Three students have been charged with a hate crime and battery after allegations surfaced they were harassing their African-American roommate.

According to prosecutors, the three defendants tried to put a bike lock around the neck of the 17-year-old freshman and told him they lost the keys.

They taunted him, calling him 3/5ths, a reference to the way the government used to count black people.

They are also accused of decorating the dorm room they shared with a confederate flag, Nazi symbols and other racial epithets.

OutFront: San Jose District Attorney Jeff Rosen.

This is just terrible. This has probably gone on for a long, long time. The students should be suspended

I can not believe that this still happens. Only in America. Has history taught you people nothing?
