Ned Stark's death on game of thrown was shocking but it was in print form first. I think the death of the father on Good Times or Chuckles the clown on the Mary Tyler Moore show, with Mary completely laughing about it should have take it's place.

Probably not as traumatic as the Game of Thrones "Red Wedding," but way more unexpected. Between America's best friend on Family Guy & Richard Harrow on Boardwalk Empire, it was a pretty rough Sunday for television.

One big similarity between Brian & Ned Stark, maybe what made both so jarring, is that both were kind of the eyes & voice of the audience in their respective worlds.
