Target confirms customer PIN data stolen in massive security breach

Target has confirmed that its customers' debit card PIN data was also stolen during a recent security breach that affected 40 million customers at its retail stores.

That's a turnaround from yesterday, when the company said there were no indications that PIN data had been stolen. In a statement today, Target claimed that the data is "strongly encrypted" and useless to the hackers.

David Kennedy is the CEO of TrustedSec and a so-called "white hat" hacker – one who looks for security flaws in existing systems so they can be closed – and he is OutFront tonight with some perspective on what's going on.
