Obama warns Russia against military intervention in Ukraine, says 'there will be costs'

Simferopol, Ukraine (CNN) - Tension dramatically mounted in Ukraine's Crimea region Friday as its ambassador to the United Nations warned Russia against any further violation of its territorial borders, a warning that came as the United States urged Russia to pull back from the region or face possible consequences.

"We are now deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian Federation inside Ukraine," U.S. President Barack Obama said in televised comments from the White House.

"...It would be a clear violation of Russia's commitment to respect the independence and sovereignty and borders of Ukraine and of international laws."

Obama said any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be "deeply destabilizing, and he warned "the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine."

The crisis in Crimea is raging on with no solution in sight. The pretext for the invasion was to protect the Russian minority.First of all, the're not Russians; they were not born in Russia. What they are is Ukrainians of Russian descent. Their linguistic rights should be protected through legislative guaranties. Anybody who believes that the Russian fleet can be kicked out of Crimea is dreaming in technicolour. It's an absolute necessity for the Russian navy, but not a right cast in stone. Therefore, Ukraine should demand benefits for the privilege like much lower gas prices, a large yearly occupancy fee and whole litany of other fees. Legally, the're trespassing on Ukrainian land. Instead of being a burden, Crimea with it's moderate climate should be developed into a year around tourist destination. The potential for job and wealth creation is unlimited. The Russians would likely help you develop it and turn it into a mini Florida or California, then invite them to come and play! Turn a war into a profitable peace for both parties! Stop this senseless was now! Use your brains not your guns!

Watching the abomination unfolding in the Ukraine with horror, I cannot not believe the "Western Powers" are simply wringing their hands while they literally do NOTHING! Does NO ONE remember ADOLPH HITLER! Putin is using the exact same battle plan, using creeping invasion to accomplish Russia's conquering and keeping the Ukraine, period! Austria, the Sudetenland, the West does NOTHING, Poland, the West does NOTHING while Hitler murders thousands of military officers and civilians. Funny, Hitler had the Olympic Games too, before he made total fools of the West because they NEVER had the guts to do ANYTHING CONCRETE (I.E. military action). Instead, the West sat on their thumbs watching the Nazi's completely occupy Europe. Even if they moved military forces to Poland at the Ukrainian border at least that would be doing SOMETHING that might cause Putin to pause, upsetting his invasion plans! Kill this in the bud (Crimea and areas of Eastern Ukraine already INVADED by Russia!)or the Ukraine is gone. All that is needed is a Prime Minister Chamberlain of our times waiving a useless piece of paper while Hitler did what he said he wouldn't do at the same time. How long is the United Nations and the West going to FIDDLE while the crimes of the century are committed by Putin with sneering impunity!!!

AND, "Diplomacy" in this case is the language of fools while Putin swamps and takes the Ukraine back to Communism!

Why can't CNN ask the real, hard questions of the White House and don't give up just because the Administration's talking head won't answer! Ask the questions ON AIR, make Obama have to answer and make him do SOMETHING to make Russia stop and weigh the consequences versus the gains. And, NOT attending the G8 tea party next summer is a laughable embarrassment of a coward!
GET military ASSETS to Poland NOW! Apaches, A-10 tank killers, fighters, bombers, cruise missiles, missile batteries can be put there IMMEDIATELY. And to Frank Da Costa, this IS NOT anything like Syria! This is setting a pretext for WWIII if Obama keeps doing nothing!
