Cell phone tower detected Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 co-pilot's phone

A U.S. official tells CNN the phone of the co-pilot of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was on and made contact with a cell tower in Penang, Malaysia, about 250 miles from where the plane's transponder last sent a signal.

Based on data provided by Malaysian authorities, the official says the phone was searching for service, and that, of the 238 other people on board, only his phone pinged the tower and no other phone was detected.

Was the co-pilot trying to make a call?

CNN Technology Analyst Brett Larson breaks down this latest revelation.

This what I think happened. The two Muslim pilots were on a suicide run and the plane had to be shot down. How do they know it was on a suicide mission? They were following the tactics of the four Muslim pilots in the 911 attacks: cut voice communications, disable the electronics and illegally change course. One the plane changed course from north to west it was only 20 minutes from the towers of downtown Kuala Lumpur so it had to be destroyed. We know that the older pilot was upset with the government because his friend was put in prison and the younger was a religious nut case who prayed in the Mosque everyday. Who shot it down? It could have been the US or any other country. The wreckage was secretly picked up while the rescue planes and ships where sent on a wild goose chase thousands of miles away.
The 777 which was shot down was probably ordered to by Putin. Again, we have two Muslim pilots where were going to fly over part of Russia. My guess is that the Russian spies told Putin that they were on a suicide run, true or not, but Putin knew the truth about the other plane so he assumed this one was also on a suicide run.
I think that after 911 there was some kind of secret agreement among nations that any aircraft that appears to be on a suicide run had to be destroyed even if the passengers die. They could not allow the repeat of what happened to the World Trade Center where two planes killed thousands and caused billions in damages.

Erin is a sensationalist. To her, everything is "Breaking News" and only she is on top of it all. I quit watching CNN because of some of the female newscasters. They just seemed to go overboard with the drama, especially when there was none to begin with.

Is everyone too young to remember the song; "Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley in the 80's? Erin Burnet so totally reminds me of this song; especially with the lyrics; "...She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye...". She smiles all of the time, even when tragedy is the subject? Is it just me? Honestly, it makes me sick. I think I will stop watching CNN. They are way to liberal and disconnected.
