Social media: A new tool for terror fundraising

ISIS and other extremist Islamic groups are successfully raising money for weapons, food, operations. And they're raising that money from people in countries that are close American allies.
Countries like Qatar.

According to the U.S. Treasury: "Qatar has become such a permissive terrorist financing environment, that several major Qatar-based fundraisers act as local representatives for larger terrorist fundraising networks".

We showed you the result of our investigation into terror fundraising in the country.

One of the things we discovered in our reporting was how significant social media is to terror fundraising. Twitter, Facebook and messaging site, What'sApp are crucial tools. Those companies of course, are American.
