Officials: Mass evacuation of Yazidis in Iraq unlikely after military assessment

A small group U.S. Special Forces spent the last 24 hours on Mount Sinjar scouting options for a massive rescue mission.

Pentagon: Mass evacuation of Yazidis in Iraq unlikely

It was the first time United States troops have been on the mountain where thousands of people from the religious minority group Yazidi are surrounded by the terrorist group ISIS.

According to an assessment by the U.S. State Department and military, a mass evacuation of Yazidis is unlikely.
