New Ebola patient flew to Dallas with fever; CDC wants to interview passengers
The second health care worker diagnosed with Ebola has been transferred from the Dallas hospital to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, which has successfully treated two other patients. It is now treating a third: a male health care worker who was infected in Sierra Leone.
Last Friday, 29-year-old nurse Amber Vinson flew to Cleveland. She flew back to Dallas Monday, boarding a flight even though she had a temperature of 99.5 degrees and was being monitored for Ebola. By boarding that flight with a fever, she put more than 130 fellow passengers at risk. She was in the hospital about 24 hours later, diagnosed with Ebola.
The head of the CDC said she should not have flown and that "from now on" people being monitored for Ebola will not travel on commercial flights.
Today, President Obama tried to reassure the country but acknowledged much more needs to be done.
"I think what we've all learned over the last several weeks is that folks here in this country and a lot of non-specialized hospitals and clinics don't have that much experience dealing with these issues and so we'll have to push out this information as aggressively as possible," Obama said.

I personally think these people, healthcare volunteers or not, should be thrown in jail for knowing they could be assaulting people since they may be sick with the ebola virus, and not caring, boarding an airplane anyway.
Pushing-out Information does not keep the Ebola virus out of the United States. Prophylactic screening and or waiting periods at outbreak zone airports, as per the recent Lancet study recommendation, will much more efficiently do so. It also prevents loopholes that allows returning, infected personnel from going symptomatic in an uncontrolled, populated environments in this country. That is important for preventing outbreaks that divide US resources between 2 continents, and divert expertise from the primary outbreak in West Africa.
Just saw the segment on Erin Burnett Outfront,this pm, about the Bridal Shop that the latest Ebola victim visited on Saturday 10/11/14.Are all those beautiful gowns going to be chemically cleaned before any one else tries them on?? There may be lingering body fluids left on the fabric-may have been put over the nurses' head and oral secretions, perspiration remained . What has been communicated to the shop owner since then? Are those people who are "self monitoring" being told to stay home?? Can they go out to eat or go to a movie??Anxious to hear a report on this. concern
