What exactly is an 'executive action'?

President Obama's decision to issue an executive order without the approval of Congress is causing a firestorm across the country.

Republicans say the move is illegal. Four governors are threatening to sue the President over his plan to shield million of undocumented immigrants from deportation

But Barack Obama is not the first President to go at it alone.

CNN's Tom Foreman has the report.

He's doing exactly what a leader is supposed to do....make decisions and execute them. I hope he does a lot more going forward. To hell with congress. The waiting is over, time to take action and shake things up.

-Executive action is when you have two lead guitars in the band -and an awesome bass player to boot ( in this case Obama; Congress -and bass player: the Supreme Court- and one lead guitarist takes on the singular role of banging out a grand solo piece while the other lead backs it up with some good riffs and the bass player makes sure that the piece is groovin' fine.
