I support all police officers...Can you imagine a city without them? Complete Chaos ! ....I have no sympathy for Mike Brown or his Family....The whole family appears dysfunctional...Everyone has a different last name...The Mother is under investigation for assault on some former family members who were selling T-shirts...I guess she wanted in on the action and money involved...

I see a bunch of sheeple on this site. Brown was a thieving thug with no respect for anyone other then himself. With his disrespect for people and the law, he would have met his demise sooner or later. Justice was served for Brown and also for Officer Wilson. Officer Wilson did his job but will live with his actions the rest of his life thanks to the racist and biased people out there.
Everybody is up in arms about these "black" kids dying at the hands of "white" officers. Begs the question, why are so many "black" kids coming in to contact with ANY police officers at all? Are all of these police officers "white" because they can actually pass the background checks? Or, maybe the "Black" kids, even though they have clean records, don't grow up wanting to be a cop because all they want to be is what they grew up idolizing...Rappers, hard neighborhood thugs and drug dealers! Where getting killed or locked up is worn as a badge of honor! Police are out there to do that...POLICE (have the duty of maintaining law and order). You try policing an area that is overran with these like-minded individuals.

If my brother, son or daughter, sister, or wife commit a crime, so be it. They took it upon themselves to abandon the cohesion of our family unit the second they took action. I will not double the damage by wasting a second of my life over their poor decision-making. If their actions get them shot and killed by police or a private citizen–justly or not–during the course of their idiocy, they knew the risk and failed to calculate it correctly. The only unfortunate part of this scenario is that this family member wasn't who I thought they were. I thought my relationship with them mattered enough to steer them toward better decisions. That's my mistake and it won't be happening again.
I reject the ignorance that breeds crime. On the whole, most people do. Nobody rallied behind Timothy McVeigh or held protests or vigils on behalf of the Unabomber. As a general principle, when bad actions catch up with the person who committed them, a normal response is to say "Well, what did you think was going to happen?!" There is no clearer evidence of this than the fact that we have a penal system, marginally effective though it may be. Even privately, parents have been known to force shoplifting children to wear sandwich board signs, outing them for their crime on street corners and use public humiliation to teach them a lesson. Best parenting ever? Unlikely. But in principle it illustrates a fundamental social concept of rejecting those who act out against others. Somehow nobody addresses this in the Brown/Wilson case.
'Should' Brown have been shot? I don't know. I wasn't there and I certainly won't presume to fully understand the dynamics of such a heated situation–whatever the catalyst. I DO know that it is the height of ignorance to try to draw fully-informed, accurate conclusions from incomplete data, OR to expect anybody else to do so. I also know that ALL the data will never be available to anyone but Brown and Wilson. I know that emotional reasoning is a logical fallacy always, and I certainly know better than to believe what I hear on the news as being 'the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth'. But I also know that none of that really matters. What matters is that he WAS shot. The REAL question is 'Was this preventable?' It’s easy to point a finger at Wilson and say that he shouldn’t have pulled the trigger. But that action is in no way indicative of police officers or departments as a whole—in exactly the same way that a black person robbing a store is NOT indicative of black people as a whole.
Police are generally good people (the statistically inevitable bad egg notwithstanding) who largely just want to go home at the end of their shift like anybody does. But with their sworn duties and responsibilities come risks unseen and unknown to most people. Being in harm's way is what they do. Logic dictates that the longer I am in close proximity to law enforcement, the greater the odds of finding myself caught in the crossfire of some of that trouble. They will err on the side of caution—in favor of themselves!!—every single time, as anybody acting as a police officer probably would. Those who don’t often end up killed in the line of duty.
Anybody can take basic preventative measures to avoid being shot by the police, and it is NOT difficult to do so. Foremost among these: don’t break the law. In fact, simple self-preservation makes it obvious that it is best to stay completely clear of ALL law enforcement, at ALL times, day or night. This is not because I think they're 'out to get me', rather because I know that every now and again, however unlikely, somebody does actually win the lottery. And in this context, I don't want it to be me. To facilitate that, I know that I should never do anything that will draw the attention of law enforcement to me. I also know that if I DO have an encounter with police–whatever the location or context–it is in my best interest to go out of my way to be as cooperative as possible, and endeavor to bring the encounter to a swift conclusion so that both myself and the officer can be on our way. If I do not adhere to this simple formula of self-preservation, I do so on peril of my head.
Let's establish the FIRST thing...these "boys" (Michael and Dorion – – grown men, +250 lbs) were thugs who just robbed a store and assaulted the clerk (the media and protesters conveniently forget those facts).
Secondly, amongst all the "witnesses," their stories contradict each other, and have changed to what the mob wants to hear i.e. "he had his hands up running away saying 'don't shoot.'" Funny how there's NOT ONE shred of evidence of that. In this day and age of ubiquitous cameras and smart phones with cameras, don't you think it's a little odd that the shooting wasn't captured? Lastly, the forensic evidence clearly points to the fact that Michael Brown attacked Officer Wilson in his car and tried to grab is firearm.
What's also odd is how the protesters are silent and not angry about 'black on black' killings which statistics show is the overwhelming cause of deaths and murders amongst blacks. I guess it's ok for blacks to kill blacks, but not for a white officer to defend himself against an attacking black person. How about addressing where the MAJORITY of the problems lie...in african american communities themselves. Look at statistics...they don't take sides. They just show the raw truth that blacks have MAJOR issues amongst their own communities which they don't want to fix.
"Race Baiters" like obama, holder, sharpton and jackson are also only adding gas to the fire.
P.S. Once we finally got a sketch and approximation of the location and distances concerning the shooting, it was interesting to note the location of the officer's spent bullet shells. Many rely on this to support the testimony of the witnesses they believe say Mike Brown was charging the officer. This completely ignores the fact that during the course of the shots fired at Brown, several hit him, including one through the eye and exiting the face. Brown was no doubt disabled by this shot and stumbling back towards the officer while falling.
And why was Brown headed back towards the officer anyway? Remember, from the officer's own grand jury testimony, he was attempting to get Michael Brown back to the car because he knew back-up was coming. Oh no, could Big Mike have simply been obeying the officer's command to "come back"!
Third. In many arrest situations officer's do pull their guns to make arrests when the subjects are unarmed. However, proper training dictates that you would never pull your weapon in a fight with the suspect having not produced a weapon, where it is anywhere near where the suspect you are fighting with can grab it. But more importantly, do not forget that a suspect (from his perspective) possibly facing being shot by a police officer may feel compelled to defend his life by deflecting away the gun or even taking it from the officer. (Review the California Black Panther shooting cases and San Diego Sagon Penn case where deadly force by the SUSPECT was justified).
Too bad Wilson didn't pop this little criminal as well.
Let me finally, summarize the reasons I believe the officer should have suffered criminal liability for the shooting.
Even assuming a crime had been committed by Michael Brown, that crime would be nothing more than the strong-arm robbery. While many jurisdictions characterize these types of crimes as felonies, they are usually plea-bargained to a misdemeanor when charges are brought, if not ultimately charged as misdemeanors by the prosecution. They rarely result in more than a couple of days in jail (usually as credit for time served since being arrested). No matter how bad the crime sounds or how bad people want to say the tape looks, those crimes are quite frequent and really on the low end of violence that was perpetrated against the store clerk.
Nevertheless, if you assume the officer knew of that type of call and suspect description, all would probably agree the officer had probable cause to stop, detain and even arrest Michael Brown. The problem, however, arises in the manner in which the officer attempted to effect such arrest, if indeed he made such an attempt.
First, it is without dispute that the officer did not believe or "fear" that Brown was armed with a weapon. The size alone of a suspect, can not and should not in a civilized society be enough for an officer to draw his weapon to take an unarmed suspect into custody. Yet, in this case, the officer admits drawing his gun in the car. While we don't yet have a clear indication of the holster used by the officer, modern-day holsters are designed to prevent suspects from merely pulling the gun out of the officer's holster to use it against him. I would submit that the officer and his department was negligent there, if such a holster was not provided and used.
To be absolved from any criminal liability for his conduct, the Ferguson officer told a story of a "demon" "hulk-Hogan" figure hitting him twice in the face with force that was going to knock him out or "worse," kill him. Many are ready to believe this story on its face, while others look to the "forensic evidence" (the photos and medical reports) and say this is pure b-s. The redness on his face and neck are no more than the inflammation many caucasions receive shaving!
This same demon turned on him, after already being shot and finally got in a football stance to attack leaving no other option than the officer to empty his gun into the demon, with the exception of one saved bullet.
Again, this story seems like a fairy tale to many, except those looking for a reason to absolve the officer of any wrongdoing in killing the demon.
Well, as apparent from the many stories regarding the Ferguson community and the police dept., the system is not fixed now. Many seem to endorse the proposition that anyone who disobeys the orders (lawful or unlawful) of a police officer can be shot on the spot with no repercussion to the officer.
Is that the society you REALLY want to live in? Or do you think that will just apply to the African American community?
The present day African American community feels; my great-grandfather, my grandfather, my father and now me have been kicked around by this justice system.
It seems many of the present-day caucasion community feels; the system is all fixed now and you people simply need to get a job, quit relying on the government and quit committing crimes and you won't have any problem from the system.

Before you go too far on this I suggest watching the unedited security footage that shows Brown putting the cigars back and taking the one he paid for. The neatly edited police video was the reason I stopped trusting the Ferguson police side on this.
An officer killing an unarmed person should always be investigated by an outside source. It is just too sensitive to let the local jurisdiction to deal with. That is what I have learned from Ferguson. Now on to the two other bad police killings in the news. At least the 12 year old appeared to be armed.
This would be the same person that repeatedly changed his testimony in front of the Grand Jury and, when faced with scientific evidence proving him a liar, responded that he wanted to go home, he didn't feel well.

If Wilson was serving an arrest warrant for this individual, I can almost understand the hot response clearly attempted (just look at photos of the vehicle). But given that he was initially approached for walking in the street, and potentially identified as a SUSPECT of strong armed robbery, in no way was such an action oriented manuver from the police justified.
We have due process in this country, and all citizens deserve to have their rights respected. Being suspected of a crime does not elevate an officer to judge dredd status to carry out justice. We are talking about a small town here and an 18 year old suspected of strong arm robbery. He isnt going anywhere man, serve him with due process and an arrest warrant, not hot shot cop antics.

I have often wondered why it is that black people always resist arrest? Have you noticed this? Look at all the big "Show-Time" style CNN front page stories that have been plastered all over the networks these past 20 years about blacks getting shot by police and you always find out that the suspect was resisting arrest, and uaually with great violence. Rodney King to Michael Brown and all in between, it's the same old story...violently resisting arrest. I would venture to say that almost all of these media frenzy stories wouldn't have happened if the suspects had not fought/attacked the police. One needs only to play the first half of the Rodney King video to see why it all happened. The half the media doesn't show you!

How exactly would they swear out a warrant if they haven't identified the suspect? He merely matched the descriotion of someone who alleged comitted a strong armed robbery.
Being a suspect doesn't justify the shooting, but the other acts ranged from resisting arrest to assaulting an officer, and agruably, if he was trying to get the gun or was charging, to attempted murder of a police officer.
If you stop it before the shooting isn't justified, but if you are talking about after these acts, which is when the shooting occured, you have a different story.

I Believe that The Michael Brown didn't have to die, and wouldn't have if he was stopped differently.
The Cop just did a bad job, there are other ways to capture and subdue someone.
I think he should have waited till more cops arrived for one.

I can't believe Erin would put this young man on her show. Mr. Dorian has been proven to have fabricated his initial story line and got caught multiple times lying to investigators during cross examination of evidence not to mention an active participant in the assault and theft of the storekeeper.

In the first palce, they need to hire more INTELLIGENT police officers. Courts in some states ruled that individuals with IQ's that were too high could not be hired as law enforcement officers. The cop who shot and killed that 12 year old kid in Ohio was about to be fired from the force he previously worked at but resigned before that could happen. He was deemed UNFIT FOR DUTY. What's up with that???

I will not post an opinion about this case and am only here to say I am very tired of hearing about it. MB has gone on to glory and now the matter of whether the Officer in question was right, wrong, angry, racist,...has been heard and a decision has been rendered, so why are we not trying to move past this case.
I am tired of this case. It's sad. It is sad for the family of MB. Yet an unfortunate reality of what can happen when our young people are not raised to respect the law and authority.
It is sad for the Officer to have to be exposed to this type of publicity and to have to live the rest of his life with this as a "claim to fame".
Please let's move on. Black people, please, let's move on. Because we have bigger, far more sickening things to worry about like what is portrayed in this video

Erin do you honestly believe that believe Officer Wilson was guilty of cold blooded racially motivated murder that day? Did you see or read the evidence of the grand jury; SIX black area residents (who are in fear of their wellbeing) came forward and corroborated Wilson’s testimony step by step! Regarding those who feel that police should wear body cameras, let's get to the source and have all of the population wear one whenever they leave their home? Obviously this is an absurd idea and not how the country should proceed but it would allow us to sort out the "good" from the "bad". There are two black men in the video still in this story. Race aside – does anyone see them as equal through the eyes of the law? If the answer is 'yes', then you aren't being truthful. One will get profiled, and the other is a news reporter.
Dorian Johnson's version of the events shouldn't be questioned – he was there. If in doubt, a simple LDT should have been conducted.
Ferguson, Missouri – An unarmed black young man shot at and killed in the middle of the day for jaywalking and stealing cigars. An innocent bystander could have been harmed while he was being chased and shot at. His body left in the street uncovered for hours. Name of cop not revealed for a whole week. A video comes out of young man stealing a box of cigars.
New York City – Another unarmed black man choked to death because police thought he was selling untaxed cigarettes. New York police dept prohibits choke holds, medical examiner ruled the death as homicide. Arrest caught on video – victim clearly stating he couldn't breathe.
12-year kid reportedly waving around a toy gun. 911 caller states twice that the gun appears to be fake. Dispatcher never told police that it might be a fake gun. Upon arrival by police – kid gunned down.
In Florida, 17 year old young black man went to store to get skittles and an iced tea. Enroute home talking to his girlfriend on the phone, minding his own business, being followed all because he was wearing a hoodie. Minutes later he is killed and body laid in morgue unidentified.
In Pennsylvania, police officer ambushed and killed by white man. Massive manhunt conducted. Suspected cop killer found – still living – not gunned down.
Yes, now in the U.S., it's like we are in South Africa, at the time of apartheid which tarted from 1948 to 1991.

Shouldn't he have been charged for his participation in the robbery of the 'cigarillos' at the convenience store with Brown just prior to Brown's attacking the police officer? Is he not also the guy who claimed Brown had his hands up, which was contradicted by other witnesses, and isn't he the guy who claimed Brown was shot in the back while running away, which was contradicted by the physical evidence showing he was shot in the front. This guy is the cause of a lot of people believing that the police officer was the aggressor, it seems likely that he is largely responsible for the damage and destruction and mistrust caused by mistaken beliefs regarding this case.

There have also been numerous articles that have pointed out the inconsistencies and downright lies told by him. Pretty clear now that the narrative the media tried to cram down our throats was a lie. Mike Brown was a thug and he died because he resisted arrest and attacked an officer. The media (yes CNN I mean you) and the race pimps (aka Obama, Holder, Sharpton, Jackson, Farrikan) tried to sell us a load of crap but the facts caught up to them. They have done more to damage race relations than any white man alive.
The real tradegy is not that Mike Brown died, his end was predictable, the real tragedy is that becasue of this false narrative many people who would be sympathetic to real racism will be less likely to believe real instances of racism. Change is needed but to pin the future of race relations on the lie that Mike Brown was a sweet innocnet kid is not the way to go about it.

Every time I hear someone refer to Brown as a "thug" I brace myself for a stream of pre-packaged thinking, probably leading to references to Obama as "tyrant" or "socialist." It seems this issue is simply playing out on racial lines. If you are a conservative white, the "thug" deserved to be shot. If you are black or liberal, Brown was a sainted teen throwing his hands up in surrender. I suspect both stories are equally inaccurate. Witnesses can't even agree on who did what, and why, and I've read so many different interpretations of the physical evdence, I've given up trying to figure out what happened. Why has it become so hard for us to simply admit that we don't know that answer to everything?

Is there a reason we are even broadcasting an interview with an accomplice, who committed perjury, and potentially incited this whole mess in the first place? If he hadn't lied about the "hands up" aspect of this event, then it is likely that the riots and community destruction would never have occurred. I agree that there is a significant race disparity in this country, and many black youth grow up significantly disadvantaged. However, this event has nothing to do with either of those issues, or with race for that matter. This was a case of an individual who robbed a store, assaulted a police officer, attempted to steal a police officer's weapon, and resisted arrest. Had nothing to do with race. If Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Jackson, the NAACP, mainstream media, our Attorney General and the President want to protest that "#Blacklivesmatter", I'm all for it, but only if we also discuss and/or protest the unacceptable number of black lives lost on a daily basis at the hands of drugs, poverty, and violence in America's inner cities. Too often the names of these unfortunate individuals end up out of the headlines and only within the fine print of our newspapers and TV stations. Just last weekend 5 people were murdered not too far from Ferguson, and an innocent child was the victim of a drive by shooting in Chicago (none of which involved a police officer)....where are the protests on behalf of these lost lives – shouldn't they matter as well?

I think the issue that is so appalling is that many of you feel that a human should be killed if one person deems it necessary. I don't think that events didnt happen the way it was presented but the question is did Micheal Brown HAVE to DIE. Did his mother deserve to lose a son and prospects of grandchildren because of these actions. Officer Wilson is NOT A SMALL MAN. He to is over 6 feet and has police training on how to take down a man without deadly force but many of these comments dont take that into account.

Now to my last point. Timothy McVeigh Jeffery Dahmer and many other serial killers had trials to determine whether they where DESERVING OF DEATH. But Micheal Brown's trial was there on the street. One man made the decision to take a life no due diligence no judge no jury no lawyers no law. And what was his crime. His bad decisions put him in a position which ultimately caused his demise. We will probably never know the entire story, but the fact of the matter is, he chose to assault an officer, he chose to try and remove the officers weapon from him. That means that he was threatening deadly force against the officer. What other reason would someone have to try and take an officer's weapon? Officer Wilson acted within the scope and regulations of his job. I've had bad experiences with the Police, but the bottom line is that I was taught, when you're told to do something by the police, you do it. And if you disagree with what happened, you take them to court. You don't get killed if you comply. People (if you can call them that) like Timothy McVeigh and Jeffrey Dahlmer went to trial largely due to the fact that when they were caught, they didn't try to take an officer's weapon or assault them. Everyday we are all in fear of our life and if a police officer feels that there are always going to be in fear of there life then they shouldn't be police officers. Now here you have a 12 year old boy you had a toy gun and the cop shot him dead now this cop wasn't in fear or threaten becasue the child was a distance away. When there has to be a better way or the respect to officers is going to be gone. We are talking about a nearly 300 pound, 6 foot 6 inch MAN RUNNING on ASPHALT directly toward the officer who was NOT on the grass, not in a football uniform...I challenge Any Michael Brown defender to tell me that they would not shoot at such a threat, particularly after getting hit several times, getting his gun nearly wrestled from him! It is SCARY to see the protesters who refuse to look at the facts end the law. The protesters want vigilante justice!!!

Something must make him turned after he had left the officer.

Police Officers do not just sit in their car and wait for their back up, which he had called for by the way. They are not going to just say " Oh sure criminal that just assaulted me and tried to steal my gun, my backups not here so you go on ahead" ... they get out and do their job of trying to arrest /catch the criminal.

People forget that Wilson was facing TWO suspects at the time. He had no idea where Johnson had gone or if he was coming back to gang up on him. And you expect him to go all Fight Club in the middle of the street??

Many people who wished to find Officer Wilson guilty seems to conveniently forget how President Obama sent the FBI to scrutinize every aspect of the investigation surrounding the shooting. And they came to the very same conclusion... that Officer Wilson DID NOTHING WRONG.
One last point. There is no doubt that Black Americans have been mistreated, EVEN TODAY, in the pre-trial, trial, and sentencing stages of whatever charge(s) they faced. But I personally do not believe that Michael Brown is a symbol of that mistreatment. Rather, more minority men and women should hope for a similar degree of diligence and integrity when police investigate them.

I was a police officer from 1960 to 1968 and one thing that I strived for each day, I was going home to my wife and children every night, what ever it took. I would not gamble with my life. Seems the public thinks police should gamble with their lives when confronting people like Brown. What the police should do if the person didn't want to be arrested just let them go or if it is in the black community let the blacks handle the situation.

When you chose to become a police officer for the salary and benefits, you knew you were gambling with your life. Very well said. I supported the civil rights movement all throughout the '60's and until just recently, thought that the opportunities afforded people of color were justice deserved. It seems those opportunities have been thrown away, by offenders like Michael Brown and Darian Johnson. They played a losing game, and Michael Brown lost, and lost his life. It is time people like MB are taught from early childhood to respect property and proper authority, comply when told to stop breaking the law and to stop when a law enforcement officer tells you to stop and get down on the ground (for your own, and the officer's safety.) Michael Brown, who was raised by his grandparents, was not a "gentle giant", and the fact that NO teacher, pastor, coach, or other adult authority defended him (apparently did not even KNOW HIM) speaks volumes. He did not deserve to die, perhaps, but he gambled with his life and lost. The grand jury certainly heard enough evidence to prove that prosecuting Officer Wilson would neither have changed the truth nor benefitted the community of which they were part. Too many truthful witnesses presented factual evidence to back up Office Wilson's testimony.

The race of the witnesses is of no consequence, if you're trying to find out what MOST LIKELY happened you take the word of the majority. The majority of all the witnesses, race excluded, testified contradicting Wilsons testimony.

No, the 'majority' is not necessarily right. You have to weigh the value of each individual testimony. Several "witnesses" who went against Wilson had also claimed that there was no altercation at the police car, or that he was shot in the back. When evidence proved beyond reasonable doubt that there definitely WAS a struggle in the vehicle, he was not shot in the back, and that there was blood 21 feet away from where he ended up (showing that he was advancing back toward the officer) they changed their story. At that point a reasonable person should conclude that particular witness testimony is worthless, because they didn't see what happened and/or were lying. Witnesses who had 0 incentive to lie (because they didn't go to the media for their 15 minutes) backed up Wilson's version of what happened, and their testimony matches the physical evidence. Ask yourself why these witnesses would back up Wilson's testimony and say that he was charging the officer if that didn't actually happen.
I tried to remain neutral on this case from the beginning. I wanted to see all of the evidence before I made up my mind about what happened. After seeing the evidence, I think it's clear to any non-biased individual what happened. At this point, if you believe the shooting was unjustified I have 2 simple questions for you to ask yourself. 1) When you first heard about this incident, before hearing any evidence; Did you believe this shooting was racially motivated? and 2) What would it really take to convince you otherwise?

Please consider reading the officers account of what happened that day. He did request backup, but Brown came up to the car and assaulted the officer in the face. Then he tried to get the gun from the officer. Brown was a criminal that robbed a store with resulted in the police officer being there in the first place. Irony- Brown summoned his own reaper.

Wrong. Wilson originally heard about the robbery on the radio and asked if they needed him. He was told no. Then while driving he noticed two guys walking down the middle of the road. It was only after they told him to eff himself that he noticed they matched the description of the robbery suspects.
Actually the cop didn't know the crime had taken place, so the argument that he suspected these guys doesn't wash. Doesn't mean when he asked them to get out of the street they should have just listened and we wouldn't be having this conversation. I think there are a lot of inconsistencies on both sides. When I heard a reporter (can't recall who) mention all cops should wear a camera it seemed to be at least a partial solution. Certainly we would know more of the details in a case like this one. Any cop who refuses to wear it or tampers with it should not be allowed to be a cop. Pretty simple. It's too easy to cops to abuse their power. A camera would at least give back some of that power to the public where it belongs.

Police ARE INDEED "trained" to effectively apprehend suspects with as little force as possible. Police are NOT "trained" to watch criminal suspects walk by unquestioned and wait until some future opportunity when he can amass some kind of S.W.A.T. team just to interrogate and apprehend a robbery suspect! The violence that resulted in Michael Brown's death was initiated AND perpetrated by Michael himself! Officer Wilson performed his job exactly as he was trained! Not True! Michael had 300 lbs of bone breaking mass and was attempting to "take out" a policeman that he considered too wimpy to apprehend him (based on Michael's own words). THAT was a FELONY CRIME and a FATAL case of miscalculation!

Brown was in the wrong. Okay? He committed a crime, and assaulted a police officer. Wilson told him to back off, but he did't listen. Law-enforcement officers are trained to protect themselves; they are taught to do whatever they must in order to go home to their families. This isn't a racial issue, nor an issue at all – it shouldn't be. Wilson did his job, and yes, it ended in tragedy, but he followed his training when Michael Brown DIDN'T follow the law.
It was bad police work, by every definition. He approached them once (for basically no real reason), then decided to detain at least one of them, and puts himself in a position where he cant even get out of the poolice car before being in a confrontation. It was the epitomy of hot shot cop move, he was going to slide up and handle the situation.
He gave no thought for his own safety, no respect to the people he was seeking to detain, paid no heed to the fact he felt he needed to detain them for strong arm robbery, and thrust himself into a situation (for no real reason) that he felt required to shoot to kill (even after injury the suspect with previous gun fire). He wasnt saving anybody when he dove into this situation. Procedures are established for a reason, to keep both himself and the public safe. He disregarded how to approach a suspect and elevated his own safety over that of the public.
For these reasons alone (though there are many more) Wilson should have been charged with excessive use of force and negligent homicide.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. You say Officer Wilson thrust himself in the situation for no reason. What are you talking about. That is his job is to keep the peace and sometimes that means arresting criminals. Sometimes that means taking action so the felony robbery suspect gets arrested. Make no mistake Brown was not charging (several witnesses from Grand Jury Testimony) back at the officer to discuss politics or sit down for a cup of coffee, Brown had been shot once. He tried to flee. Officer Wilson would not and should not just say of well he got away. Doesn't work that way. Officer Wilson attempted to make an arrest. Brown charged at him to do one thing KILL THE COP. Officer Wilson did the only thing he could and that was to stop the threat. Most effective way is shoot center mass. He tried that the threat kept coming charging,,,,one last head shot stopped the threat. Officer Wilson should be commended. He survived a violent attack from a violent felon and he was doing his job. Brown was being a criminal and he paid for it with his life. I feel bad that Browns family had to suffer the loss of a loved one. However had Officer Wilson acted with haste or hesitation, the funeral would have been his. And no one outside of Missouri would have ever know that name of Officer Wilson. He would have been just another dead cop to most of the people that are incensed now.

He approached them because he got a radio call that a store down the block from his location was just robber by a man that matched Micheal Browns's description. He did not get out of the car because he did not know if the individuals were armed or not and getting out would put his safety at risk. He gave an authorized order that all citizens of the United States are required by law to obey if given to them and instead Micheal Brown charged the officer as he was getting out of his car. After ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER (federal crime) the injured officer pulled his gun and fired on his attacker. Also, if an active police officer draws his gun it is only to kill. The cop was responding to a call about a robbery...a description was issued...Officer Wilson made contact with the subject, the subject initialed the physical confrontation by shoving the door shut on the cruiser, striking officer Wilson in the face twice while trying to get the officers gun...this equals one dead street thug. Had MB had some respect for the law he would be alive today.

The initial conatct was for walking in the street. Not for armed robbery. His second contact is where he pulled the police car across double yellow lines and into arms reach of brown (who he is going to try to detain for strong arming people).
There was no reason in this world he would approach an armed robbery suspect like that. Why are cops giving themselves less than a fraction of a second to respond with deadly force? It is bad policing and needs to stop. In know way was Darren Wilson in a position to accurately assess his danger because of bad decision making before the confrontation.
We can not allow our police to make bad decisions and shoot their way out of it. His actions were criminally negligent and led to very lopsided response to the threat he faced from an unarmed man.
I don't what happened that day between Michael Brown and Officer Wilson but I saw Michael Brown's lifeless body lying in the street (uncovered) for at least an hour after he was killed (on a youtube video). That in itself tells me that they didn't have any respect for him after he was shot dead.
Should have tazed him and called for back up. Put him in cuffs and had a trial. The whole crime scene was botched, Almost no forensic testing was done on scene. Everybody just said "Well that's it case closed" had 30 days to provide a statement to a grand jury. A Grand jury? Really?
How do you know this? Are you part of the police force and witnessed it for yourself?
I believe Officer Wilson was not carrying a taser. In fact many law enforcement agencies have reduced the numbered carried because people claimed they were being over used in apprehending individuals. I agree this device could (on most individuals) the best solution to the situation .
He wasn't carrying a taser. There were not enough to go around and it was optional. Wilson was carrying mace as his nonlethal deterrent. Pretty sure that the situation had progressed far pass non-lethal means just from what happened in the vehicle. I have not read all the eye witness statements though, so I can't say that the fatal shot was necessary. Although from the forensic evidence it does look like Wilson tried to aim for wounding at first. He fired twelve total, two were in SUV cruiser. Out of the remaining ten, there were seven bullet injuries. One of which was in cruiser and another was possible double(one bullet two wounds). So ten bullets, five(six?) wounds and this guy isn't a rookie, so he has some familiarity with his weapon. Just saying that from what what Wilson has stated and the witnesses that back him up, that it seems he gave this young man ample opportunities to avoid use of lethal. As to a backup, they arrived what mere seconds after delivering the fatal shot? The other thing I would say is that there was NO racial component to this instance. That doesn't mean that racial problems between police and public are not out there, just not in this case.
Yes, there could not have been enough tazers to go around for the officers. But, the police department had access to tanks and military equipment. Also, Officer Wilsons testimony in the grand jury transcripts, led my interpretation to be, the selection of what an officer carries and what option an officer uses for apprehension of a suspect is optional. Officer Wilson testified various dislikes for the positioning of tazer on his belt, the use of the collapsible baton, and mace. The only thing he appeared to prefer was his gun. Also, did you notice when the question arose regarding if there were any other complaints in the officers file...this was the response given..."there was a complaint made against him and two other officers describing that was ultimately found to be unfounded, to describe Officer Wilson and two others attacks, an African American male who was just walking down the street in the city and used racial slurs towards him, beat him up so badly that he had bleeding on the brain", I find it odd the officer was able to deny he had ever been investigated and all I hear in the media is he had a perfect record. Did the internal investigation found him not guilty, allow the officer to say to the prosecutors he had never been investigated? We discussed the past transgressions of Dorian Johnson...why not this?
BTW not other wealthy nation in the world have cops going around abusing, shooting and killing innocent civilians or civilians who had committed minor crimes. ONLY in the USA! Most of the time when you call a cop in the USA be ready to have someone that you love dead.

Franco is correct. Do the research yourself. The US incarcerates more of it's citizens than any other country in the world, even more than any civilization in history as far as we can tell. The horribly sad part is half of the people in prison are Black. Blacks only makeup 12% of the population. If you look at arrests, let's take drug arrests for example. According to FBI and Police stats I've seen, Blacks represent 13% of the drug users in the US but account for 35% of the arrests, 55% of the convictions, and 75% of the incarcerations. There are a hell of a lot more Whites out there using drugs but Police don't accost them, pull them over, or arrest them at anywhere close to the same rate. This type of racial targeting is an evil crime. In S. California on KFWB news radio I heard about a 4 year study for the entire LA Count for people arrested for cocaine possession. 88% of the Whites walked while 90% of the Black were incarcerated. People need to wake up and understand what is going on around them. Genocide is not exactly the term but perhaps social genocide is closer to what is happening to Blacks and Hispanics as well in the US.

What Michael Brown did was wrong but at no point should a policmen put 6 bullets into a human being who was unarmed. This officer knew that Brown was unarmed. But as usual, policemen does alot of covering up to make their faces look clean. Garner was choked to death, if his friend was not with him to record the transaction, the police officer would have said Garner was grabbing for his gun. Diaulo got shot multiple times in the Bronx then come to realized it was a bullet. The haitian guy in Brooklyn had a broom stick pick in his butt at the police station. And this list goes on how many black men has gotten killed and the policemen make ridiculous, corrupted, behind scenes that put the blame on these black guys.
Doesn't matter that he wasn't armed. At all. You would know that it doesn't matter if you'd actually ever responded to a call yourself. If you believe that you are in imminent danger, you are authorized to use deadly force. If someone is wrestling with you and/or attempting to get your weapon from you, then you have a right to shoot him. Every time.

Why is he not in jail? He robbed a store, and while committing this felony, his accomplice assaulted a police officer, causing a death (his own). This is felony murder, as defined by Missouri laws.

And the cop is a bigger liar. He said that he was attacked. I thought his face would be all mangled but when you look at the photos his cheek looks a bit rosy and nothing else. Heck my face gets worse than that when I lay out on the sun. What he should had done, if he felt scared, was to take off and call for back up.

I guess the man was a tough cop, but he is a big enough guy to take a shot to the face. At 210 pounds, he may have feared for the big guy coming at him, but I would have said in the car, lock it down and wait for back up. The whole story just st inks on both sides. A kid is dead, a cop's career is over and a family is in pain. I don't have answers, but there has to be a better way.
You do not know that the Cop lied. There were witnesses there that collaborated the Cop's story and a Grand Jury that did not indict. You are speculating. Does the truth matter to you?

don't know much about police work or violence .. only a true non thinker would say wait for backup. a thug attacks a cop and tried to take the sidearm and you let them walk? the officer did the right thing .. one less inmate down the road
Bruising does not appear immediately. It takes time for discoloration to appear. The swelling appears to be consistent with a striking injury. I had an orbital (eye socket) blowout from a punch and it took abut two days before the discoloration appeared.
That said, does it matter how visible the officer's injuries are? If the officer has to make a decision between his/her life and someone that clearly doesn't respect authority? Why would they have to sacrifice their own life? I personally know several officers (and bystanders) that have lost their life from unarmed suspects who wrestled the officer' weapon away from them. Less lethal options don't always work, and by the time you find out if it does or not- its too late.
