Trayvon Martin's mother: "Judging by history, I wasn't surprised" by Ferguson decision

If there's one person who knows the pain Michael Brown's parents are going through, it's Sybrina Fulton. Her 17-year-old son, Trayvon, was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in February 2012.

His trial ultimately ended in acquittal and sparked a civil rights debate across the nation.

It's been nearly two years since Zimmerman shot and killed Martin, and the Justice Department has yet to bring federal civil rights charges against him.  Will the Justice Department follow through on their investigation of the Ferguson shooting?

As buildings burned, stores looted in Ferguson, where was the National Guard?

More than 2,000 National Guard troops are in the Ferguson area Tuesday night. Governor Jay Nixon boosted the number of guardsmen from 700 to 2,200.

But where were they Monday night when violent clashes, looting, and arson ravaged the community?

Dorian Johnson, Michael Brown’s friend who witnessed shooting, says he's 'hurt' by lack of indictment

Dorian Johnson, in his first live interview since the grand jury decided that it won't indict Officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown told CNN's Erin Burnett that he's hurt by the decision.

Ferguson braces for more unrest: 'We must do better and we will'

Johnson was Brown's friend and was there the day Brown died.

Police investigate alleged gang rape at University of Virginia fraternity

Police are investigating claims of a brutal gang rape at a University of Virginia frat party after a report in Rolling Stone magazine.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe says he's "deeply disturbed" by the allegations and is calling for a full review.

Officials: FBI, ATF boost presence in St. Louis area

Federal law enforcement is boosting its presence in the Saint Louis area, preparing in case there's violence when the grand jury decides whether to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

The FBI and the ATF are both sending extra personnel, including SWAT teams.

The grand jury is actually deliberating in Clayton, Missouri, just a few miles away.

Residents there are on alert.

Weighing in on the safety concerns is Former St. Louis police chief Daniel Isom. He was appointed state public safety director by Missouri's governor three weeks after the death of Michael Brown.
